We examined 20 chains, found on Google Maps (rating of 4.2 or more across at least 30 reviews) and on their websites. 13 are left out of this version because they publish no online prices for Asunción: Gran Vía, Casa Paraná, Hipermercado Luisito, Delimarket and 9 neighborhood supermarkets.
On September 22, 2026, we recorded prices in the 7 online stores on the same day. For each of the 25 items in the basket, we took the cheapest product that matches the description, any brand, with that day's promotion. The total compares the 22 items found in every store. Whole chicken is missing at Stock and Real, fresh cassava at Casa Rica, and 1 kg laundry powder at Supermas. Online prices can differ from shelf prices.
The imported products are 20 items: 5 gluten-free, 5 Brazilian, 5 European and 5 North American, searched in each chain's online catalog. Delivery is scored on the conditions each chain publishes, without a test order.
Checked remotely on September 22, 2026, without a visit, using the chains' public sources. Each chain is scored on its reference store in Asunción. That is the store with the longest hours published by the chain or, when the chain publishes no hours, the one with the most Google Maps reviews, whose listing then gives the hours (September 21). Foreign card acceptance, contactless payment and free parking need a visit and are not scored yet.
No chain pays for its rank. A fact not rechecked in time is flagged “Recheck due”, and 30 days later the chain leaves the ranking.
