Encarnación beaches: San José, Mbói Ka’e and Pacú Cuá
Short answer
Encarnación has 3 urban beaches on the Paraná River: San José, Mbói Ka’e and San Isidro beach in the Pacú Cuá neighborhood. The municipality describes different services at each, while SENATUR places them along the city's waterfront. This guide helps you plan a visit and check conditions before swimming; it does not assess today's water quality. Sources checked September 26, 2026.
San José pairs the beach with downtown
The municipality places Playa San José on Costanera República del Paraguay and gives its length as 700 m. Its listing names toilets, cash machines, visitor information, sports courts and food stalls, with lifeguards and marked swimming areas in the season described. The old San José silo and mill and the Paseo Gastronómico are nearby. Confirm the current marked area and lifeguard service before entering the water.
Mbói Ka’e sits in its namesake neighborhood
Playa Mbói Ka’e is in the neighborhood of the same name. The municipal profile gives a length of 200 m and lists toilets, cleaning staff, lifeguards and food outlets. It is separate from San José's central waterfront. Check access and services on your visit date; the tourism listing is not a daily water-condition bulletin.
San Isidro and Pacú Cuá identify the third area
The municipality's tourism page calls the stretch west of the international bridge Playa San Isidro, placing it in the Pacú Cuá neighborhood beside San Isidro. Other official updates call the third beach Pacú Cuá. Search both names when planning and confirm the exact point on the municipal map. The local description mentions views toward Posadas and sports events.
Check the season, lifeguards and water notices
- The municipal tourism page says the main season usually starts in the second half of October and runs beyond Easter. Check the calendar and hours for the year of your trip.
- Swim only in areas and hours authorized by current municipal notices. Sand and other visitors cannot establish the water's suitability.
- Outside the swimming season, the waterfront remains a riverside walk. Confirm access, events and services before setting off.
Choose a route for your day
San José pairs with downtown and the Paseo Gastronómico. Mbói Ka’e and San Isidro or Pacú Cuá require a different journey. All 3 beaches are in one city, but their immediate settings differ. If you may move to Encarnación, visit residential streets too and read the city's profile in the national comparison linked below.
