Short answer
A private healthcare facility must hold registration and authorization from Paraguay's Health Ministry, according to the MSPBS. Before planned care, verify the facility, the treating professional, the service you need and written prices or insurance terms. For an emergency requiring an ambulance, the ministry lists SEME on 141. Official sources checked September 26, 2026; this guide does not rank clinical outcomes.
Check the facility's authorization
The MSPBS says every public or private healthcare facility must have a registration and authorization certificate. Ask for the legal name and certificate details of the specific location, then seek confirmation from the responsible office if validity is unclear. A map listing, review score or commercial website cannot establish authorization on its own.
Look up the clinician and specialty
The MSPBS professional control office provides a public registration lookup. Ask for the registration number of the clinician who will treat you and search it there. If you need specialist care, check the registered specialty too. Checking the person and checking the facility are 2 separate steps.
Confirm the service and terms before traveling
- Ask whether the service, on-call team and specialty you need are available at that location and time. A general 24-hour opening claim does not describe every service.
- Request a written estimate for planned consultation or admission, separating professional fees, tests, room charges and possible extras.
- If you have insurance or a prepaid plan, obtain written confirmation of the current network agreement, authorization, copayments, exclusions and payment terms for your exact plan. Keep the reply.
Use the ambulance service for an emergency
The MSPBS lists 141 for its out-of-hospital emergency medical service, SEME. If immediate care or transport is needed, call 141 for guidance and ambulance dispatch. A preselected facility and insurance details can be addressed after the immediate emergency.
Understand what this guide establishes
Our research identified candidate facilities and public claims about emergency hours. We have not verified current authorization, clinical capacity, insurance agreements or comparable outcomes for every candidate. We therefore assign no ranks and publish no individual profiles. Paraguay's Health Superintendency provides an official complaint channel for care concerns.
