Staying a few months in Paraguay: permitted time and extension
Short answer
Migraciones may grant a visitor a temporary stay of up to 90 calendar days, depending on their entry. You may request an extension once, for no longer than the original period; Migraciones decides whether to grant it and for how long. The published fee is ₲585,385. If you intend to settle, check the separate temporary residency route.
Check the time granted at entry
Your actual deadline appears on the entry record issued by Migraciones. Visa exemptions and permitted purposes differ by nationality: check its official table before travelling. Keep the passport stamp or entry card, which Migraciones also asks for when you leave.

Migraciones publishes a maximum initial stay of 90 calendar days, but your individual entry record controls. An extension does not automatically add another 90 days; apply against the period you were actually granted.

Prepare the documents
Migraciones lists a valid travel document, entry record and verified visa if your nationality requires one. At an office it asks for originals and authenticated copies.

Choose a channel
Apply through paraguay.gov.py or at a Migraciones office. Online applicants create an account and upload their travel document and entry proof if the record is not in the system.

Save the confirmation
The online service says issuance is immediate unless the entry record needs checking. That review can take up to 3 working days. Keep the extension certificate.
If you plan to settle
Migraciones defines temporary stay as limited time without establishing residency. To live in Paraguay longer, follow the temporary residency guide and its document list. A pending application does not replace your current permission; confirm your position with Migraciones before it expires.
